Colleen’s Questions

What’s the funniest word in the English language?

Schadenfreude, which means pleasure at someone’s bad luck or misfortune.  I just think it sounds interesting and it’s really fun to pronounce!

Screen Shot 2019-03-24 at 2.02.02 PM.png

What’s the funniest joke you know by heart?

What did the wave say to the other wave? Nothing, he just waved!

Yeah I know it’s not funny or anything but it’s the only joke I know.

If you could have a never-ending candle that smelled like anything you wanted, what fragrance would you want it to be?

I don’t like candles very much, but I do enjoy ocean breeze, freshly baked bread, and the aroma of fresh flowers.

What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?

I am looking forward to learning to drive a car, getting my own apartment or house, and going to college. I would also love to travel the world and go to numerous exotic destinations. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you would know that I have a fondness for globes and all things relating to traveling!

Would you rather go hang gliding or whitewater rafting?

Whitewater rafting! It sounds very exciting and I’ve always wanted to do it!

What was the best book or series that you’ve ever read?

Too many! Some of my favorites YA books are To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Hate U Give, and anything Rainbow Rowell…ya know, the basic stuff. 😉 I am also a huge fan of fantasy novels too, including anything Cornelia Funke and (obviously) Harry Potter.

What would be your first question after waking up from being cryogenically frozen for 100 years?

Probably something along the lines of ‘why am I here’ or ‘what happened’, I’m not really sure.

What songs have you completely memorized?

I have memorized Vienna by Billy Joel and Walt Grace’s Submarine Test, January 1967 by John Mayer. There are countless other songs that i have somewhat automatically memorized the lyrics to, but these are just off the top of my head.

Are you usually early or late?

If I have an intense/well-planned schedule that I can adhere to, I’m early. If I don’t, since I’m such a daydreamer, I will lose track of time completely. That’s why I love my bullet journal so much!

What would your perfect room look like?

No clutter, lots of cute clothes, and aesthetic. I don’t care what aesthetic, it just has to be aesthetic. 😂

  5. If you could be born into any other decade/century/time, what would it be? Or would you just rather live in the current time period?

Plan With Me: December 2018 (Holly, Stars, and Candy-Canes)

IMG-2678.JPG

Greetings bookish friends!

I hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving and a restful break.I haven’t been very active lately, but I was able to come out with this post a couple days before the start of December to hopefully give you guys some inspiration.

This month’s theme is Christmas, featuring holly leaves, candy canes and stars. I have to admit that the holly were a little more difficult to doodle than I originally anticipated, but they ended up looking really good! Please let me know in the comments if you would like to see a holly leaf tutorial.

Supplies

  • Calligraphy – Tombow Fudenoske Soft Tip Brush Pen (Black)
  • Markers – Crayola Supertips 100 Count
  • Notebook – Minimalism Art Dotted A5
  • Pen
  • Pencil (for sketching out doodles)

I have ben using the Tomboy Fudenoske Brush Pen as a calligraphy pen since November and have really been liking them. I know that there is a lot of hype around the Tombow Dual Brush Pens, which are awesome, but I think these pens are easier to control, and turn out smoother. They come in a two pack, both black, either hard or soft tip. I personally prefer the soft tip, because even if it is more difficultPlease note that these are in no way sponsored.

First is my cover page! I think it turned out really nice. On the right, I decided to add a little yellow box similar to the monthly log just squished up. In months past, I haven’t done this, but I”m glad I tried it out. To the left I have a cute Christmas quote.

IMG-2683

Next is my standard monthly log with some cute Christmas doodles. On the side, I have a social media growth tracker. I like to have it to know how much my blog and Instagram is growing, but I try not to pay too much attention to it because constantly tracking social media can be unhealthy. But still, thank you so much for 100 followers on Instagram.

IMG-2684.JPG

Here are my trackers! To the left of the spread I have my money tracker. Unfortunately, some excess pen marks got on there and there is some ghosting, which is my ultimate bullet journal pet-peeve. Despite this, I am happy with the way that it turned out. Tracking your expenses is super important, especially during to holiday season.

To the right I have an empty half a page for writing down blog post ideas. November is always a super busy month for me, but in December I’m going to try to write more blog posts. And of course, there is also a space for me to write down books on my TBR and on my Christmas wishlist.

IMG-2685.JPG

And finally, I have my weekly spread! This weekly spread is defiantly not the “minimalistic” theme that is so popular is bullet journaling, but nevertheless, I liked the way it turned out. Of course, I have my Events sidebar off to the right of the spread for tracking events and dates.

And I think that about wraps up my bullet journal Plan With Me for December 2018! I hope you enjoyed!

6 Blogging Tips to Celebrate My 6th Month Blogoversary // New Blog Design

IMG_2081.jpg

Greetings bookish friends!

Today, November 3rd is my 6th month blogoversary! I know, not that big of a deal, but this is really important to me because it marks 6 months of hard work and dedication to something I am truly passionate about: blogging.

I have also recently switched my blog design from a fluffy gold and pink aesthetic to a silver navy blue flower theme.

Here are 5 blogging tips that I’ve learned along the way that I’d like to pass down to other bloggers. Enjoy!

Screen Shot 2018-11-03 at 5.58.07 PM

1. Write quality posts

Quality over quantity is essential in blogging. I much rather see someone write interesting, cool posts once a month rather than get random junk every other day. I could go on and on, stressing the utmost importance of this tip, but I’m going to keep it short and sweet. Bottom line is to post quality content, always.

2. Interact with the blogosphere

If you are interested in growing an audience that will read, comment, and like on your posts, then meet some new blogging friends! There are so many awesome blogs out there with innovative and creative people behind that computer screen who would love to grow their audience and meet people with the same interests as then.

So if you happen to stumble across a blog that seems cool, give them a follow and leave a comment! Maybe they’ll stop by your blog as well.

3. Use other social medias to promote your blog

Although this is optional, using other social medias to promote your blog is a great way to gain followers and widen your audience. For example, if someone sees your profile on Goodreads and likes it, they may check out your blog and give it a follow. Also, having other social medias can be really fun! I use my Instagram to display my bullet journal and discuss book that I enjoyed reading aside from my blog.

4. Don’t pay too much attention to stats

Yes, I know it can be tempting to compare yourself to bloggers who have way more followers and are far more experienced. And although it is nice to have an audience, don’t get stressed out or worried if your blog hasn’t gone viral yet. It often takes a long time to grow a blog, and its a gradual process. `

5. It’s OK if your blog isn’t perfect

There are so many things to take account into when first making a blog: the posts, the design…I could go on and on. That’s why it’s really important not to compare yourself to other bloggers who have more followers than you, because even if you have thousands, chances are there is someone out there who is more successful than you.

When I started my first blog, I was constantly comparing myself to other bloggers who had better posts, and nicer graphic designs. Sometimes, I would look at my blog and see a million things wrong with it, even though it had taken me so much time and effort. I even considered deleting my blog because I always felt that I could never be as good as any of the other bloggers that I knew.

Be confident and don’t compare yourself to others: you can always improve, but you are already good enough.

6. Be passionate

This is the most important tip on the list — if you don’t care about what you do, then why do it at all? I’m going to say right now that if you’re not passionate about whatever your blog is about (books, fashion, traveling, ect.) then it’s pointless.

Passion makes all the difference.
